Mayor Gregorio Pua here said in an interview over a local radio station in this province that Elvira Estera, a municipal government midwife, was one of the first frontline health workers to receive to the vaccine in this town.
Pua said Estera died after she had the vaccine. She had a swab test which turned out positive for COVID-19.
Pua said he would just wait the Department of Health (DOH) to conduct a thorough inquiry to confirm the cause of Estera’s death.
He called on his constituents to seriously take and cooperate with the lockdown implemented here. Pua added that they can text or call him if anyone has not received food packs and vitamins so they have can have these.
Meanwhile, the town of Roxas, this province, declared a state of calamity following an increase in COVID-19 cases.
Roxas logged 162 COVID-19 cases last March 21 following the adoption of general community quarantine with zoning containment strategy affecting 16 out of 26 barangays in the municipality.
In a resolution, the Sangguniang Bayan said 83 suspected cases are awaiting confirmation on March 22 and more cases are expected in the coming days upon completion of the on-going contract tracing, surveillance, and antigen testing.
It also noted that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to rise despite efforts and interventions on the part municipal government to contain it.
